The initial Smart Pesa mobile money services are your usual run-of-the-mill services the rest of the telecom companies offer. However, Smart Telecom plans to give their customers access to micro-credit and micro-savings accounts in the near future. Furthermore, the 100 shilling transaction rate is something no other service provider has ever done before. Smart Telecom has done similar promotions to bump up sales for its data and voice packages. On entering the Ugandan market in 2014, Smart Telecom SIM cards went for only UGX 500 and calls for an entire month at UGX 1000. Smart Telecom also offered 1.5 GB of data at a game-changing price of UGX 1000, not been repeated since.
