Importance of RAM.
Random Access Memory or simply RAM is a type of memory in which instructions are loaded and stored into from the secondary memory. Secondary memory includes HDD, SSHD and SSD. When instructions reach the RAM, they are quickly queued up for execution by the central processing unit through the fetch-execute cycle. A right amount of RAM on your smartphone or computer optimizes performance and the ability to support various types of software.
Processor/CPU.
This is essentially the brain of the computer. The more clock speed and the more cores, the faster the processor will perform. I would recommend that you buy the best and fastest CPU that you can afford at the time. This is because CPU upgrades are harder than RAM upgrades. For most Macs, it’s even impossible to upgrade a CPU. However, processor upgrades are possible for some PCs. Read: Why are MacBooks more expensive than Windows laptops?
So, what’s more important? RAM or processor speed?
General performance of a smartphone or computer is strongminded by how well the CPU and RAM work together. However, the processor might have an edge over RAM since it is the brain of the computer or smartphone. When a fast processor connects to more RAM, operations become snappy. However, slow processor won’t do much even if it has more RAM to work with. A fast processor can’t function satisfactorily with limited RAM.
